As part of our inquiry into the adaptive features of birds we took a trip with our parents assistance to Maungatuatari Trust Reserve. First we met Gemma at the classroom near the reserve to learn about why the reserve exists and why they need to protect the birds that live within the fence. The fence gave us plenty of need to think about its design and how the scientists came up with the end product.
Next we tramped around the mountain to view the birds in their exclusive habitat. We glimpsed Kakas, Robins, Kereru, Takahe and Piwakawaka as they danced around the exciting array of native plants.
